
SECTION 1: CONSTRUCTION OF 32 M.R.S.A. SECTION 3271(2)
- 1. Criteria for Determining Whether an Accrediting Body is an Equivalent of the Accrediting Bodies Specifically Enumerated in SECTION 3271(2).
- 2. The Board may, in its discretion, act as its own accrediting body regarding any residency program. The Board may create a list of and retain consultants by specialty to review and opine on accrediting data.
A. With regard to 32 M.R.S.A. Sec. 3271(2), "approved by an accrediting body which the board considers an equivalent of the accrediting bodies" shall mean an overall accrediting body charged with the evaluation of individual residency programs outside the United States and Canada. This accrediting body may be within the country of the residency program or may be within the United States, an individual state, Canada or a Canadian Province.
