Medical Board Rules

2. The Board may, in its discretion, act as its own accrediting body regarding any residency program. The Board may create a list of and retain consultants by specialty to review and opine on accrediting data.

B. BURDEN OF PROOF

The Applicant shall bear the burden of proof that the accrediting body which approved the residency program is the equivalent of the bodies set forth in 32 M.R.S.A. SECTION 3271(2).

C. COSTS

The Applicant shall bear all costs incurred by the Board, including but not limited to expert consultants, in determining whether the accrediting body is equivalent to ACGME, Canadian Medical Association or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. The applicant shall be apprised of this provision in advance of costs being incurred, although the applicant shall not be apprised in advance of each additional cost incurred by the Board.
